NON-CHELATING COMPOUND Chelating compounds chemically react with the metal to form a water soluble complex molecule. This is good for deburring, burnishing, or surface improvement operations but can wreak havoc on a waste treatment system. Non-chelating compounds, oxidize the metal ion to form a water soluble metal ion. This ion is easier to treat than the complex molecule formed with a chelating compound. Non-chelating compounds, generally do not work as quickly as chelating compounds or give as good of a finish. We are very proud of our non-chelating line of compounds. They give good cleaning and burnishing results while being easily treatable to remove heavy metals. The most popular non-chelating compounds are: L-391NC is an alkaline deburring compound based on L-391 which is one of the most popular deburring compounds with little to no chelating effects. L-391NC is designed to be used with ceramic or plastic media on all metals except zinc but can be used with steel media as well for general edge break or clean up but will run steel media dark. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XL-1039M is a non-chelating alkaline cleaner that emulsifies a wide range of soils and keeps media clean without glazing. Its operating pH is 9.0. XL-1039M is modified to offer good corrosion protection. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XL-1051 is a non-chelating alkaline deburring compound designed to be used on non-ferrous metals. Its operating pH is 8.7. XL-1051 is a very low foaming compound; it offers good cleaning and fair corrosion protection. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XL-1051I is based on XL-1051 with added corrosion protection qualities. It also contains biocide so it can be used as a recirculation compound (at 1-3%). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XL-1051LF is a low foam version of XL-1051 built with silicone emulsion defoamer. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Xl-1051LFX is a low foam version of XL-1051 built with low foaming surfactants and contains no silicone emulsion defoamers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XL-1056 is a non-chelating acid burnishing compound specifically designed to be used on brass and copper but can be used with other non-ferrous metals. Its operating pH is 4.9. XL-1056 must be followed by a post inhibit solution. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XL-1076 is a low-cost, non-chelating alkaline deburring compound to be used on non-ferrous metals. Its operating pH is 8.8. XL-1076 is a moderately foaming compound and offers good cleaning and good inhibition. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XL-1081 is a non-chelating acid descaling compound to be used with all metals. It can be used as a process compound at 1-5 oz per gallon or as a pre-dip compound at 5-100%. XL-1081 turns copper bright pink. Steel must be immediately treated with inhibition solution. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XL-1214 is a non-chelating acid burnishing compound to be used on copper, brass, aluminum, and zinc. Its operating pH is 6.0-6.5. Xl-1214 is a moderately to high foaming compound and offers fair corrosion protection. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XL-1292 is a non-chelating acid burnishing compound used with steel media on all metals. Its unique design offers burnishing capabilities comparable to L-543 with absolutely no chelating agents. XL-1292 will give a bright finish on most metals including: steel, copper, brass, aluminum, and zinc. A concentrate, XL-1292C is available. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XL-1296 is a highly acidic non-chelating acid descaling compound used with ceramic or plastic media on all metals. It was designed to function as a scale and tarnish remover built with non-chelating raw materials. XL-1296 cannot be used with carbon steel media. It was designed to function as a non-chelating version of XL-414. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- XL-1299 Non-chelating, acid descaler to be used with ceramic, plastic, or stainless steel media on all metals. It is formulated similarly to XL-1081 with more cleaning capabilities. Cannot be used with carbon-steel media. Parts must be treated with post inhibit treatment. |
